Faculty who stand against antisemitism

Videos, interviews, webinars, books, discussions — these professors are lifting their voices to protect Jewish students and faculty. They span many disciplines and ranks, but they all share the same goal: combat antisemitism in academia.

Rona Kaufman

Professor of Law at Duquesne University

Professor Rona Kaufman is receiving thousands of views on her Israel explainer series, created to counter misinformation dominating college campuses. Her videos cover a wide range of topics, including free speech in regards to campus protests and the line between genocide and war.

Pnina Weiss

Professor of Pediatrics at Yale University

Professor Pnina Weiss co-leads Yale Jewish Academics and Friends (Y-JAF), a faculty-focused group that combats antisemitism and upholds academic principles on campus. As anti-Israel encampments erupted at Yale in spring 2024, she spoke with FOX and ABC reporters about the need to protect Jewish students and faculty.

Cary Nelson

Professor Emeritus of English at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Professor Cary Nelson is a steward of academic freedom — and has been for more than 40 years. He is a recipient of the Campus Faculty Heroes Award, presented by StandWithUs and Mothers Against College Antisemitism to honor his support of Jewish students. He has also written more than 30 books, including “Israel Denial: Anti-Zionism, Anti-Semitism, and the Faculty Campaign Against the Jewish State,” co-published by the Academic Engagement Network and Indiana University Press.

Andrew Pessin

Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College

Professor Andrew Pessin is a valued member of the Faculty Against Antisemitism Movement Steering Committee and the campus bureau editor for the Algemeiner. He has authored and edited over 10 books, including “Anti-Zionism on Campus: The University, Free Speech, and BDS.” Professor Pessin has also written three short primers to challenge the “settler colonialism,” “apartheid,” and “genocide” claims against Israel.
